Bruce Dover has combined a hectic, successful media career with his love of sailing.
Joining the Amateurs in 1987, he co-owned Sawasdee before joining the late Jim Lawler’s offshore crews. After several years with the Azzurro syndicate, he found his current yacht in New Zealand. In 2003 he sailed EZ Street across the Tasman to her new home in Mosman Bay.
Bruce’s time as the SASC’s 46th Commodore (2016-20) was period of renewal at the club with an emphasis on rebuilding both the club’s infrastructure and its membership, as well mentoring and training with a focus on good seamanship.
Whilst happiest at the helm of EZ Street, or when organising Amateurs working bees, he’s also continued to serve our sport as chair of the Australia Day Regatta Committee since 2021.
It’s all a far cry from the start of Bruce’s sailing life.
