Bill Hogan, 44th Commodore (2010-13), joined the club as a relative novice in 1979 but went on to become one of the most successful SASC yachtsmen of recent times. This included Kelly Cup wins, numerous season gold medals and higher honours in the S80 keelboat class.
Such was Bill’s sailing and tactical prowess that his Amateurs racing record at one stage included 42 consecutive scratch victories with Hotspur.
A canny, affable and determined skipper, he also led the club through a period of infrastructure renewal during his time as Commodore, when working bees undertook major upgrades of the slipways and the Green Shed.
Despite his accomplishments on Sydney Harbour, Bill’s sailing career began on the other side of the world.
