As the SASC celebrated its 150th anniversary, Honorary Secretary Leone Lorrimer was among a number of women members having a growing impact on the club’s activities and playing an active role in helping attract more women to our sport.
She and husband Mathew, both keen sailors, are also regular volunteers at the Amateurs and helped to plan and run the club’s memorable sesquicentenary celebrations in 2022.
Leone, who joined in 1997, started sailing in her early teens when she crewed a dinghy with her father Frank, commodore of their local sailing club and a prominent yachting administrator.
So it was probably inevitable that she would follow in his footsteps.
