Helen Weston was one of the first women members to own and race boats at the Amateurs.
Her sailing career had started in dinghies, racing from the former Mosman Amateur Sailing Club when it occupied the Green Shed at the north end of the bay.
She made the progression to larger craft in 1977 when she joined the SASC, pursuing her love of yachting over succeeding decades on the helms of several competitive yachts.
Helen’s racing record included an Amateurs season gold medal in 1978 and a NSW state title, about which she’s disarmingly modest.
Now living on a rural property in the Bega Valley, she has fond memories of Mosman Bay and how she started sailing there.
