Trevor, an Honorary Life Member of the SASC, is a true stalwart of the club.
Growing up in a maritime family, young ‘Coshy’ was always destined for a career at sea. After completing his apprenticeship as a fitter and turner, he served in ranks from junior to chief engineer on merchant vessels plying the world’s oceans.
Subsequently he was a ship classification society surveyor, and technical manager of a leading towage and salvage company. He has worked as chief salvage engineer on more than 40 major ship salvage operations.
Trevor is also an experienced offshore sailor with scores of major races to his credit. He has part-owned substantial yachts on the club’s register and crewed on just about every Amateurs boat that has ventured into blue water in recent times.
Ashore, his contributions to the running of the club are legendary; his engineering and maintenance skills being in constant demand, and always generously volunteered.
Trevor designed and rebuilt the slipway cradles; managed an extensive refurbishment of the Green Shed, and renewal of the deck, cranes and piles at the main clubhouse; and has overseen the planning and execution of many other productive club working bees.
He was also a long-serving Director, and in 1998/99 a most deserving recipient of the Clubman of The Year award.
